Celebrating Fall Student-Athlete Achievements
Rocky Point High School is proud to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our student-athletes this fall season. Under the leadership of Athletic Director Mr. Jonathon Rufa, these students, teams and programs demonstrated excellence in competition, academics and sportsmanship. Their dedication reflects the strength of our athletics community and the commitment of our coaches, families and supporters.
Boys Cross-Country
Rocky Point’s boys cross-country program continued its tradition of excellence led by standout runner Trevor Green, who earned All-State and All-County honors. Green placed 17th in the NYS Class B Championship, finished fourth in Section XI Class B and helped the team qualify for the Section XI Class B Championships.
Girls Cross-Country
The girls cross-country team shone as well, with Savannah Tychnowitz earning All-County honors and finishing 18th in Section XI Class B. The team also secured a spot in the Section XI Class B Championships.
Field Hockey
Field Hockey saw multiple top-level recognitions, with Ireland Protosow and Raylee Weisman named All-County, Taylor Aschettino receiving All-County Honorable Mention and Maya Poli honored as Academic All-County. The team advanced to the postseason as the No. 9 seed in Section XI Class B, earning an overtime playoff win against Sayville.
Football
On the football field, David “DJ” Xavier was celebrated for earning All-County honors as well as being named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete, recognizing both athletic and academic excellence.
Boys Golf
Kyle Fusco represented Rocky Point with distinction in golf, earning All-County honors and qualifying for the Section X Golf Championships.
Girls Soccer
Girls soccer was highlighted by strong student achievements, with Maija Koski earning All-County and Valentina Bruno recognized as Academic All-County.
Girls Swimming
In the pool, Andraya Giagios turned in an exceptional season, placing second in Section XI in the 100-yard butterfly, earning All-County and qualifying for the New York State Championships in the event.
Volleyball
The volleyball program was represented by Daniela Lopez, who contributed to a competitive season on the court.
Gameday Cheer
Recognized earlier this winter, Gameday Cheer continued its successful run with All-County honors for Angela Andrews and Sophia Bauer, Academic All-County recognition for Scarlett Ward and a third-place finish in Section XI Class B. These accomplishments were celebrated at the Winter Sports Board of Education meeting.
