Enhancing A Culture of Community

The Rocky Point School District offers new educators monthly workshops throughout their first year of teaching. The workshops include classroom management, technology integration, student wellness and building community relationships as a few of the topics. Workshops are facilitated by sixth grade humanities teacher Stacy Iberger, who is the Rocky Point Teachers Association liaison. Ms. Iberger is assisted by members of central administration and fellow members of the RPTA.
“The workshops are a way of welcoming our newest staff members into the district, creating comradery among the group, and assisting them with any additional first year support that is needed,” Ms. Iberger said.
The culmination of the program is a celebration with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Scott O’Brien. It is an opportunity for the new teachers to meet with Dr. O’Brien to discuss what went well during the school year, as well as possible suggestions on how to improve the experience for the next group of new RPTA members.
