Robotics Team Earns Connect Award
Fourteen Rocky Point High School students represented the school’s Robotics team for their outstanding performance at the FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifier Tournament on Jan. 18 at Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park.
The team took home the coveted Connect Award, noted for connecting the dots between community, FIRST and the diversity of the engineering world. This judged award is given to the team that most connects with their local STEM community and recognizes that engaging the local STEM community plays an essential role in their success. The school recipient of this award is honored for helping the community understand FIRST, the FIRST Tech Challenge and the team itself.
Team members are Gracie Bertino, Mahaer Chugh, Gwen Graham, Kristian Hald, Amy Johnson, Daniel Lee, Peter Lee, William Lin, Andrew Renta, Elladiah Tenreiro, Kian Tewes, Logan Toner, Ethan Wills and Nate Watkis. They attended the event with advisers Mark Moorman and Karen Gambino.
“Congratulations and well done,” Rocky Point High School Principal James Moeller said.
